Paul is joint-CEO of Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI). He was responsible for the formation of the business, in his prior role as the portfolio manager for Old Mutual life funds, and has played a seminal role in its development. During this time OMAI has grown into the largest private alternative investment manager in Africa with over R60 billion in assets under management across 27 active funds and over 160 portfolio companies.
Paul has over 30 years’ experience in investments and capital markets. He currently serves on the boards of African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), African Clean Energy Development, the Southern African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, 10X and Tourvest. Transactions in which Paul has played a leading role include Pepkor, Life Healthcare, Coronation Investment Trust, Shanduka and Mumbai Airport and the proprietary acquisition of AIIM.
